Buenos Aires, November 20 (NA) – The councilor for the Exaltación de la Cruz party, Fernando Martínez, filed another collective injunction (the second since the possible privatization became known) before the Federal Court of Campana, with the aim of stopping the sale of 44% of the shares of Nucleoeléctrica Argentina S.A. (NA-SA). This company, belonging to the National State, is in charge of operating the country's three nuclear power plants. Thanks to Martínez's injunction, according to Noticias Argentinas agency, the unconstitutionality of Decree 695/2025 and the risk that this privatization poses to energy sovereignty have been recorded. NA-SA operates at Atucha I, Atucha II, and Embalse, and contrary to the Government National's idea of selling public companies that cause losses, this one is profitable: it obtained 17 million dollars in profits alone in the first quarter of this year. "Privatizing an efficient and safe company has no technical or economic justification. Nuclear energy cannot be left in the hands of private interests," states the injunction presented by the councilor. Likewise, it requests a precautionary measure to pause any type of "bidding, offer, or transfer of shares" and, in this way, maintain the same scenario until a decision is actually made taking into account the injunctions presented. On the other hand, it also aims to stop a possible partial privatization, as this would influence tariff increases and the defunding of the sector: "Users lose protection against interests that prioritize profitability over the service," the text explains. The previous injunction had been presented by Unión por la Patria (UxP) deputy Gabriela Estévez, where she requested "the nullity and unconstitutionality of Decree 695/2025 and Resolution 1751/2025 of the Ministry of Economy." "You cannot sell what cannot be justified."
